Our
highway and street design background includes a range of roadway
projects from KDOT/MODOT geometric improvements to residential local
streets encountered in our subdivision development projects. Our
staff has also completed several geometric improvement projects for
area municipalities and counties. MHS is experienced in design of
concrete and asphalt pavements, as well as, sub-grade modifications
including incorporation of geotextiles, fly-ash, and lime
subgrade modification.
With the majority of our work to
date being located in the Kansas City Metro Area, our staff is well
versed in utilization of the Kansas State Road & Bridge
Specifications and the Missouri Department of Transportation Road
Specifications. We have also assembled a full library of specific
public works specifications and design guidelines for all
municipalities in the Kansas City Metro area along with the six major
counties surrounding the area.
Our designs comply with
the current Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and in
the absence of city specifications we utilize the American Public Works
Association design manual. Approximately 30% of our design staff hours
involve highway and street design tasks. The following is a
